Comfort from within
Have you ever thought of yourself as that person who would provide the comfort and support through the difficult times?
Perhaps, it's a revolutionary thought but when we are in pain, don't we concentrate on how badly it hurts? Instead, we should switch to a different mantra. We should echo those simple words with which moms comfort their children - "there, there" - and we will feel a little better. Words can't change the problem but they certainly can dull the pain. Shift the mood, and the entire body will follow suit. Just change your mantra, and instead of repeating how awful everything is, switch to cheering yourself up!
